Study Finnish in a goal-oriented and efficient way. Eira High School for Adults offers a wide range of intensive Finnish language courses from levels A0 to B1.2.

Start your registration by taking a placement test. The test helps us place you in the right course level so you can get the most out of your studies.

The test dates are 31 July and 3 August 2026

Note: If you have previously studied at Eira, please do not register for the placement test. Instead, contact: henrik.domingo@eira.fi

The academic year and studies begin on Monday, 24 August 2026.

How to apply

Courses are available at multiple levels, from beginner to more advanced.

You can start Finnish language studies in any study period. A separate application is required for each period.

Application steps
  • Register for the online placement test (1 June – 17 July 2026)
  • Complete the test online (31 July or 3 August 2026)
  • Choose a suitable course
    • You will receive an email with available course options
    • If no suitable course is available, you will be informed
  • Confirm your place by paying the course fee
    • Course fee: €100 per course
    • Payment must be made via the payment link sent by email.

Student selection criteria and the placement test

There are more applicants than available places for Finnish language courses at Eira High School for Adults. Therefore, student selections are made carefully to ensure that the courses best meet the students’ needs and language proficiency levels.

Who are the courses for?

Our Finnish language courses are intended for anyone who wants to improve their Finnish skills for everyday life, work, or further studies. You can start from the very beginning.

The courses are suitable for you if you:

  • have moved to Finland and want to learn Finnish
  • need Finnish for work or further education
  • have already studied Finnish and want to improve your skills
  • are looking for a flexible and efficient way to study
  • have good basic literacy using the Latin alphabet
  • have the necessary skills and equipment for real-time online learning (for online courses)

You can participate even if you do not yet have a residence permit or Finnish personal identity code.

Studying Finnish at Eira

Studying is flexible: courses are offered in the morning, daytime, and evening, with options for online, in-person, and hybrid learning. Courses mainly takes place online, making it easy to combine studies with work, family life, or other commitments. In-person classes are held at Iso Roobertinkatu 20–22 A, Helsinki.

Students are placed in suitable groups based on the placement test.
